LEGO Minifigs
My studio neighbour stopped by on Mon. and talked about a project that needed to make figurines for a diorama display. After some discussions, he decided to make custom Lego minifigs. While experimenting and prototyping, I got carried away and shrunk my studio’s mascot into the scale of Lego minifigs. When the custom designed and […]

Tired Week
My sister’s family is visiting town, but I felt like I had seen enough of them already in Toronto last summer. My sister in HK and my mom had dinner with them separately, I declined the invitations and kept myself busy with work. Finished re-engineering my studio’s mascot, DEXTER, to use a more flexible frame […]

Hot Week
It was a hot and muggy week. My biggest accomplishment at work was reviving my studio’s old Etsy shop to make available some hand-drawn artworks for online order. Not really expecting to make many sales, but happy that I was able to check off a Q2 task and wrap up one of my biggest projects […]

Calligraphy and Meetups
Completed the last batch of commissioned handwritten calligraphy postcards. Thankful that the revenue from the commission was more than enough to cover the cost of the batch of expensive handmade recycled paper that I bought to show support for a local paper artisan. I even had extras to put back into my personal art fund […]

Staycation
Had an unusually “busy” long weekend packed with a letterpress sharing session, a historic architectural tour, and a Chinese painting workshop. It started from the letterpress sharing session on Fri afternoon, I learnt about the inspiring story of Robert Morrison inventing the Hong Kong Font (香港字) letterpress to assist in preaching the gospel. I also […]

Busy Week
It had been a busy week. Mon and Tue was spent mostly with my parents to renew IDs and accompany my mom to see her doctor. Squeezed in some adhoc time to work from home. The weekly seal carving class ended last week, but I found time to finish off a “masterpiece” that I started […]

Q2 Transitioning
Started executing my ambitious Q2 plan after the Easter holidays. Managed to keep up my weekly calligraphy goals while adding a new 5-class seal carving course. Picked up my order of handcrafted paper yesterday, will try to setup an online store to offer my calligraphy works in coming weeks. The calligraphy work, which I still […]

KOKB Launched!
Ran the last mile and felt relieved after finally launching a website I had been working on since LNY holidays. The site is far from perfect, sometimes it doesn’t even load at all, but it’s a WIP and should be good enough at this stage. The site can be found here: KOKB.site The web project […]

RoboArm and House Cleanup
After a couple of days of studio work, I managed to make the RoboArm kit come alive! With the stepper motors and end stops now under control, the next step will be to hack the code and program the RoboArm kit to do something useful. I’ll spare this fun for a later time as there […]

“Single“ Again!
Though more or less expected, I was especially ecstatic yesterday morning when a single line on my rapid test reassured my recovery from COVID! I immediately told my fellowship caring group to let me join the scheduled dinner meetup! Stayed home the entire week without stepping outside. Took the opportunity to put in some finishing […]
