My investments finally climbed back up in the past few weeks after a slumping third quarter that was dragged down by a single telecom stocks in my portfolio. I think there’s still a good chance of meeting my 12% annual return target. My daytime psyche is still very much tied to the ups and downs of the stocks market. I was hoping that setting up a studio would help pull me out of the addiction, but now I’m actually thinking more about how I can adjust my investment portfolio so that I can worry less about making enough money to pay for the studio rent.
Despite the added burden of studio rent, I still feel blessed having the convenient and spacious studio space to explore and experiment the many creative design ideas that tickles my fancy. I still go back to the studio almost everyday (except Sundays), usually starting in late afternoons and work till late nights. Didn’t get too much work accomplished last week due to many social activities – Monday night drinks with a friend visiting from HK, helped a friend with Winter tire changes on Tuesday before driving him to the airport the next morning for his Japan trip, Wednesday night bball, and Friday evening meetup with some UW classmates. Biggest accomplishments this past week was successfully testing the CMYK lithophane 3D printing and finally covered up the rust on my car with a spray paint I bought months ago.
Saw a couple of art exhibitions last Sunday, one at my church and another at a community center near the studio. I often feel this urge of pouring all my time and effort indulging in making art after seeing other people’s masterpieces. I hope the time will come when I no longer need to worry about my finances and can dedicate myself fully to art and design. I pray that the day will come soon.
