Street Food

Took my mind off my paper tonight to play some badminton.  Afterwards, we stopped by this soccer court in Tsing Yi where a hugh bamboo structure was set up for the traditional Chinese opera.  They had this every year when I was living in TY in high school, but I just didn’t expect the tradition […]

Air Pollution

When I came home from badminton tonight, my mom told me worryingly to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning before going to bed.  The weather isn’t too hot yet, it’s the air pollution!  The air pollution index (api) topped off at 500 (severe) today mainly due to the devastating sandstorm from northern […]

Sickness

Woke up this morning with a minor headache and sore throat. Nothing serious, just a minor fever. I’m actually thankful, for this is the first time I got sick since returning to HK, not a simple feat considering my previous sickness-prone annual visits.

Bauhinia Blakeana

Recently, I started noticing the vivid pink and purple colors dotted all over the streets of HK.  It’s the blooming season for the city’s floral emblem. I remember stumbling upon a small park which had tens of Bauhinia trees planted, so I made an effort to visit it again expecting to see something like the […]

Marathon

Finally submitted my assignment last night, I’ve spent much of my time this week working on it.  Relief!  I chose one of the buildings for the upcoming Shanghai World Expo 2010 as the case study, so the end of the assignment is actually a new beginning for my research of the much anticipated Expo. While […]

A New Start

The Chinese New Year has quickly come and gone.  Today is just a few days short of my half-anniversary of returning to HK, nothing much had been accomplished or changed, I’m still my old unmotivated self with lots of bad habits intact.  Subconsciously, I was hoping the change in environment would help me start life […]

Chinese New Year 2010

It must have been more than 10 years since I last spent CNY in HK.  The atmosphere is definitely more festive and vibrant compared to Toronto. I haven’t seen the restaurants this quiet, my home phone this busy, and my family this happy since returning to HK. Kung Hey Fat Choi!! p.s.  Happy Valentine’s Day.

Solitude

The sound of light rain falling on trees and window, the sound of water rushing through a stream, and the occasional chirping of birds are all that I can hear while I compose this entry in my studio on a rainy Sunday afternoon.  Solitude.

Greening My Studio – Part I

Walk into an electrical appliance store in HK and I’m sure you can easily find a vast amount of indoor air purifier options.  This to me reflects how badly polluted the air in HK is.  I don’t like the idea of electrical indoor air purifier.  Since most electricity is generated from burning coal, those devices […]

Sustainable Energy – without the hot air

Completed the recommended reading for a course.  The book is great as it answered a lot of the questions I’ve always pondered.  It’s free too! Looking at some of the graphs from the book, I realized that I’m now living more sustainably in HK compared to Canada. This is an unintended good thing. It kind […]
