Super Typhoon Saola
The day after the rare super blue moon appeared, Super Typhoon started ravaging the city on Fri. morning, but I managed to sneak back to the studio in the early afternoon to do some work before the highest typhoon no. 10 signal was hoisted in the evening. The unexpected typhoon deterred many of my plans […]
End of Tunnel?
The government finally relaxed some of the social distancing restrictions this past week, the city seems to have come alive immediately. The public libraries reopened, I rushed through a long overdue Chinese painting book before returning it. Also started dining out again, one time with my family and another time with my Chinese calligraphy class. […]
Weekly Updates…
The past month had been the hottest and driest May ever recorded in HK. As much as I’m glad that the 14 (or 15) consecutive very hot day warnings have ended, I just wished time could pass by just a little slower… Recently I seemed to be growing more and more conscious about time and […]
Hot Days!!
The weather is so hot these days that one immediately starts sweating within 5 min. of walking outside. I finally turned on the air-conditioner at home for the first time last weekend, as environmentally friendly as I hoped to be, I seriously couldn’t sleep without it. I thought I could still do my morning run this week […]
Running
12.35k! The cloudy cool weather certainly helped, thankful. I was thinking the world will be a better place if I can accomplish today’s training. Will icebergs stop melting? Atmospheric CO2 recede below 400ppm levels? Will terrorists repent and become good guys? Probably not. But I suppose some dumb optimism wouldn’t hurt.
Running
Planned to do a 7k practice run this morning, but could only run 4k, felt defeated. I think there were 2 possible reasons for the upset, one was that I got ambitious and used up a lot of the strength at the beginning of the run, and second was the scorching sun. It was 30 […]
Creative Monday
It was public holiday, but without any other plans, I decided to go back to the studio and stick to my weekly Creative Monday ritual. I read another year of Calvin & Hobbes, it was a bit of a revelation seeing Mr. Bill Watterson touched on the topic of greenhouse gases back in 1987! Yes, […]
Studio Renovation V
Day 5 – Set up my art supplies, planted a row of plants (mainly succulents brought from home), and started cleaning up. Hope to finish this little renovation project tomorrow. Before renovating my studio, I sat in on a public forum at my Alma Mater in the morning. It was about climate change from HK’s […]
Spring
Took a slow walk home after lunch, I noticed all the brightly colored flowers dotting everywhere in the neighborhood. Spring has arrived. The truth is, this past Winter didn’t really feel like Winter at all, temperature never dropped below 10 degrees. Can I blame this on Climate Change?
Extremely Hot Week
Hot weather warning had been issued every single day this week! Didn’t seem to be sleeping too well for the last few nights even though I turned on A/C, and I felt as though I was suffering from a persistent light fever during the day. Checked the climate data of HK, and there’s a good […]
