Sickness (Part II)

My sickness continued.  It’s very minor, just prolonged.  Felt weak and vulnerable, an unexpectedly good feeling. I am reminded of one time when I got seriously sick when I was living by myself in Toronto.  Death didn’t feel too far from me then, I was half-conscious and struggled immensely in my mind saying to myself […]

Sickness

Woke up this morning with a minor headache and sore throat. Nothing serious, just a minor fever. I’m actually thankful, for this is the first time I got sick since returning to HK, not a simple feat considering my previous sickness-prone annual visits.

Bauhinia Blakeana

Recently, I started noticing the vivid pink and purple colors dotted all over the streets of HK.  It’s the blooming season for the city’s floral emblem. I remember stumbling upon a small park which had tens of Bauhinia trees planted, so I made an effort to visit it again expecting to see something like the […]

A New Start

The Chinese New Year has quickly come and gone.  Today is just a few days short of my half-anniversary of returning to HK, nothing much had been accomplished or changed, I’m still my old unmotivated self with lots of bad habits intact.  Subconsciously, I was hoping the change in environment would help me start life […]

Greening My Studio – Part I

Walk into an electrical appliance store in HK and I’m sure you can easily find a vast amount of indoor air purifier options.  This to me reflects how badly polluted the air in HK is.  I don’t like the idea of electrical indoor air purifier.  Since most electricity is generated from burning coal, those devices […]

RIP: Badminton Racquet

I killed my racquet playing badminton!  I’ve only used the racquet for a few months, and I only realized how much I’m attached to it when it’s dead.  It’s like that for a lot of things, we never realize their true values until they are gone, forever. Quitting badminton actually crossed my mind, but I […]

Reminiscence

Reminiscence – recall to mind of a long-forgotten experience or fact. A wedding last night turned out to be somewhat of a reunion for me and my old UW housemates.  We were leisurely playing “Big 2” when we suddenly started talking about the good old days when time still seemed plenty.  We could easily spend […]

bodw & BYOB

I was carrying with me a fair bit of expectation entering the bodw show, but I left during the break right after the first presentation by Hermés.  I believe there’s value in good design, but there’s something I disgust about luxurious goods, I just can’t stand the way people spending so much money buying them […]

Change!

Let me mark this day (20091123) as a day for change, a day to rid of an entrenched bad habit in my life.  May God help me.

Fireworks

Today is a celebratory day for China.  I can see bits of the fireworks display from my balcony.  I wonder how much money was burnt. There were grand (lavish) celebrations in China for the entire day.  But not too far away, there are many people who are still struggling to stay alive after the severe […]
