Darkest Day in HK

Was determined to be an eyewitness of the “Big Banquet” because I didn’t want my perception to be tainted by the media.  I was however too coward to be in the action, so I took a stroll away from the crowd and police to do a little reflection in solitude…

It wasn’t true solitude as I have one of my ears plugged-in listening to the radio for breaking news.  I was also constantly receiving concerning messages from family and friends telling me to stay safe.  It was heart-warming, I was reminded that I’m not alone even in solitude.

I didn’t get a taste of tear gas as many civilians did, but tears occasionally ran down my cheek as I hear news of Government Police using weapons against its own armless citizens.  A few government officials made open speeches afterwards attempting to legitimize their actions.  And all our Chief Executive C.Y. Leung can tell  the citizens is to safely go home so that traffic won’t be affected for the next working day.  Seriously?!  You have all these injured, tired, and unsettled citizens whom you consider “family”, and all you can think of is a normal working day?!

I would probably leave this city I thought I knew if it weren’t for my parents.  Knowing that I won’t be leaving, is there anything I can do to help the situation?
