100 Days
With 14 days of no COVID-19 confirmed cases locally, and over 100 days of social distancing and masking measures, our city seems to have fended off the pandemic relatively successfully. We’re now seemingly entering a new stage of transitioning back to normal life. But is that even possible? The pandemic has killed lives and closed […]

Art for Earth
Took a week-long creative detour to participate in WWF’s Art for Earth campaign. It was the week of Earth Day 50th Anniversary, the campaign encourages artists to create and share a piece of art daily based on each day’s prompt. I took the opportunity to continue my weekly cartooning Inktober52 story. It’s a lot more […]

WOTL
Watching (mostly just listening) the One World Together At Home while writing this post. Despite my fading trust in WHO, I think this is an incredibly creative campaign to connect and entertain people and showing appreciation for our medical staffs for fighting COVID-19 while we stay safely at home. I’m reminded once again of the […]

Easter Weekend
This marathon social distancing practice is really soaking the life out of me. When can we all leave our masks behind and meet face to face again? Have been keeping myself busy with studio work, calligraphy practice, and cartooning. One of the breakthrough this week was making a protective visor with 3D printing and standard […]

Self Isolation
The world continues to spiral down the seemingly bottomless COVID-19 pit with US now leading the plunge. Worldwide, over 1 million ppl is now infected by the virus with over 65 thousand deaths recorded. This overwhelming casualty is unprecedented in my lifetime. The rising death toll numbers continue to numb my senses. I don’t really […]

Global Pandemic
WHO finally announced the P-word after being criticized by many experts of its inaction. I started checking the list of global confirmed cases and deaths almost daily. It felt a bit like checking each country’s medal ranking during the Olympics. I continued my alternate working days routine this past week and still finding myself surprisingly […]

Weathering the COVID-19 Storm
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread and worsen globally in South Korea, Iran, Italy, etc. In midst of the depressing atmosphere, I seem to be getting used to these social-distancing days. Continued my alternate working days in the studio this past week, successfully carried out a few “experiments” in translating black and white ink art […]

Isolation Continues
The COVID-19 has become a global pandemic, whether WHO has the guts to announce it or not! There is seriously no denying of it as it has caused serious local community outbreaks in South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, etc. Life under isolation feels a bit suffocating. Admittedly, I’m not too social to begin with, but […]

Life Under 2019-nCoV
Worked home for another week to save on masks. Besides eating and sleeping, much of my time was spent going through a Chinese dictionary of 4-letter phrases and practicing Chinese calligraphy by copying the relevant words for a long unfinished project. The dictionary was a gift from my dad when I moved back to Canada […]
