Thanksgiving Challenge – Day 5/5
Faith – As much as I wish to introduce my family and friends to the love, joy, peace, and hope of Christianity, I seldom talk about it myself. Admittedly not being too good with words, I hope that others would see God’s work in me through the things that I do. 1. Thankful that I […]
Thanksgiving Challenge – Day 1/5
Art (and Design) – didn’t receive any formal training, nor work in art-related fields, but Art seems to play an important role in my life. 1. Thankful for the weekly oil painting class, good teacher and nice classmates 2. Thankful for the occasional opportunities to serve Him with His gifts in church and fellowship 3. […]
DIY Lantern
My sister and brother-in-law couldn’t join our regular family dim sum after church today, I decided to skip as well. Instead of the regular Sunday routine, I decided to spend the day in the quiet studio. Insisted not to work on a Sunday, I let creativity take control and designed a DIY lantern in preparation […]
World Cup
Suffered an emotional low when my favorite team Brazil got a humiliating (and historic) 7:1 lost a couple of days ago. A game that’s supposed to bring joy and peace to people resulted in buckets of tears instead. I prayed there wouldn’t be a riot. When Argentina played Netherlands in the semi-final this morning, I […]
Soccer
Played a little soccer tonight. The weather was hot, humid, and windless, so it seemed more tiring than usual to run on the field. But it was good to break some sweat, the game also seemed more enjoyable because of the eminent World Cup fever.
35th Birthday
Gave myself a day-off and visited the Studio Ghibli Layout Designs exhibition in the afternoon. It was amazing seeing the thousands of sketches from the many familiar animated films I had watched over the past, I can only imagine the time and effort it takes to produce a couple of hours of animation. Had dinner […]
Soccer
Went to my alma mater in the afternoon to sit in on a meeting about a possible website project. While I was there, I checked about using their library service as an alumni, I really loved their cross university library system in which I can borrow books from any local university, but apparently, alumni can […]
Creative Monday
Decided at the last minute to skip my painting class in the evening. Shouldn’t be a problem as I’m one class ahead, it might even be better now that I’ll be on the same page with everyone else again. I had a bit of fun with 3D printing today. I downloaded, edited, and then printed […]
Non-Work Saturday
Finally broke my streak of working in the studio on Saturdays. Had been a little busy with a relatively big website revamp project over the week, so it felt especially refreshing to spend the day away from the computer. Played badminton with my friends in the afternoon, my ankles didn’t feel pain anymore, I think […]
Career Plan
After ~10 years of post-secondary study, I’ve finally decided to frame and hang all the grad certificates in the studio. If what Einstein once said “imagination is more important than knowledge” is true, why have I spent so much time and money gaining knowledge? Not sure how to answer that, but I’m thankful for the […]
