Japan’s Earthquake
The air seems particularly hot and stuffy today. Went to church, dim sum with family, watered my plants, tended my aquarium, and killed hours at night sitting in front of the TV – a typical Sunday routine. It must have been years that I have the habit not to do any “work” on Sundays (had […]
A Happy Day
Played basketball, watered my plants, tended my aquarium, read a book – my definition of a happy Saturday. And the day was made pleasurable only while knowing that nothing serious was found on my mother’s MRI report!
Mom’s Hearing Problem II
Father took Mom to the hospital today for her scheduled MRI scan. The report will be out tomorrow, hope it won’t be anything serious. Meanwhile, mom’s staying in the hospital overnight. For someone who’s extremely fearsome of sickness and death, I pray that God would give my mother extraordinary peace and a restful sleep tonight.
An Old Man on MTR
On my way to fellowship last night, I saw a middle-aged man on the MTR. He had this great satisfactory smile on his face while examining the newly purchased basketball, I imagined him thinking about his son’s surprised joyful face when seeing the gift. Walking up the slope to my church, I couldn’t stop thinking […]
Mom’s Hearing Problem
My father took my mom to the hospital this afternoon, she had been complaining about the loss of hearing and occasional ‘ringing’ sound. It turned out, for reasons yet to know, one of her ears may have permanently loss 90% of hearing! I was unusually calm. Not a word uttered from my mouth as I […]
Cold Gloomy Sunday
It’s a cold and rainy Sunday. Arrived church early as it was my sister and brother-in-law’s turn to serve. Went to our usual family dim sum following Sunday Service. And after that, we went to visit my uncle. It was my first time seeing him since his surgery, he seemed well and healthy, thank God! […]
Cardboard Bricks
Had a lot of gatherings with family and friends in this CNY holiday, so I didn’t have as much time to work on my DIY projects as I hoped. Nevertheless, I managed to craft some brick-sized (also half-sized) cardboard boxes, this is what I’ll do with all future cardboard collected from excess packaging!
Chinese New Year 2011
It’s the Year of the Rabbit, my second Chinese New Year since returning to HK. The atmosphere is joyous and vibrant, but I didn’t feel as dramatic of a change as last year, another indicator that I’m well adapted to the lifestyle here. Spent the day with my family of ten – dim sum in […]
Father’s Worried Face
Since my uncle’s surgery last week, I started noticing the unceasing worried look on my father’s face. I’m usually not too observant towards my family’s looks or expressions, but the dark cloud around my father is too overwhelming to go unnoticed this time. Dear Lord, please continue to heal my uncle. Have mercy on his […]
Uncle’s Surgery
My father tagged me along to see my uncle at the hospital last night. My uncle’s cancerous cells had come back after operation a few years ago. There was nothing I could do other than quietly stand in the hospital room listening to my father’s brotherly conversation with my uncle. The timely scheduled surgery started […]
