Arrived church really early this morning as my brother-in-law needed to help with some preparation work. Interestingly, I actually felt more awake today than other Sundays, perhaps due to the nice sunny weather.
The afternoon was quiet and quite relaxed, I actually wanted to do more work on my dissertation, but deliberately restrained myself. I kept hearing these words in my head: “there are six days to work in a week, should rest on the seventh day…”
Picked up the work on my dissertation again after a brief detour to do a Case Study. Finished the Methodology and Results sections, and started the major section – Analysis and Discussion. Hoping to finally finish the complete draft of my dissertation next week before May…
Completed and submitted my Case Study assignment – my last ever academic assignment other than the dissertation.
A little relief before the much anticipated grand relief I’ll experience after I finish and submit my dissertation…
Not too sure what got into me today, but I managed to pull myself together to complete most of my 10+ page Case Study writeup. Will need to take photos and make illustration(s) to beautify the report tomorrow…
I’m thankful for a day of focus and hard work.
Didn’t add a single word to my dissertation, still find it hard to push myself to work on a nice quiet Saturday. I only managed to compile some tables and a figure.
Completed the Literary Review section, 2406 words down, 7594 more to go! Need to do more work tomorrow…
Only added a couple hundred words to my dissertation today. I didn’t slack off, I just spent much of the time reviewing literature.

This whole dissertation had dragged on far longer than I anticipated. I thought that by locking myself up for a few weeks would heighten my focus and productivity, but the effect seems negligible. I’m still too easily distracted by TV shows, internet, my aquarium,… when will I finally attain the power of self-control?!
Seeing the minimal effect of locking myself up, I decided to lift the ban and join my friends for badminton after close to a month of absence, it feels good to take a little breather and socialize with friends. This might actually be more effective in freshening up my mind and re-energizing it for the seemingly unending battle of the dissertation!
