<< The Figure >>
Took me 5 days to read and practice some of the exercises in the book << The Figure >>, relearned how to draw the human figure, face, hand, etc. Still can’t fully grasp the gist of capturing gestures, movement, and attitudes. Need a lot more practice…
Seemingly, this week have been a detour from my regular work, but I actually have something planned out. I wish to create some cartoon characters, and I can’t do that without first relearning the fundamentals. Will see if I can create the cartoon character(s) while catching up some work next week.
Badminton
It’s been months since I last played badminton, kinda miss it, almost forgot the joy of rallying the little birdie. My racquet seemed to be a little overjoyed too, its string finally broke.
My ankles (first right then left) got hurt while playing soccer a few weeks ago, still not fully recovered. My injuries usually don’t take this long to recover, a sign that I’m getting old. Looking forward to the day when I’ll fully recover and can fully enjoy sports again!
Drawing the Human Figure
Re-learning how to draw the human figure… I bought the suggested book “The Figure” years ago when I took a life-drawing course, I enjoyed the course but I hardly read the book. Good thing I brought that book back to HK, I just started picking up the book again and find it very useful.
If I can master drawing the human figure, I can create cartoon characters by adjusting the proportions and then have them pose in any position with any facial expression at ease. Wouldn’t it be fun if I could achieve that?!

Sat. without Painting Classes
There was no oil painting and rubber stamp classes today due to public holiday. I went back to the studio to indulge in a little ink & wash on my own. Enjoyed the occasional solitary time in front of the drawing board with my favorite music playing on the background.
Had dinner with my UW friends, one of them recently came back from US and is visiting town for a couple of weeks. It was good catching up with everyone.

A New Start
The first quarter of year 2014 seemed to have passed all too quickly, I seemed to have lost track of time. This may have to do with the fact that I stopped the habit of writing down my daily to-do items since the start of the year. Printed out some DIY daily to-do lists for April, let’s see if restarting this habit can help me better keep track of time and be more productive at work.
