Day 28

Did something mischievous. =)

The Government can take down the giant banner at Lion Rock, but I bet they can’t take down this small one at my studio door!

Day 25 – A Day at School

IMG_0838Realized that it has been more than a month since the boycotting of classes began on 9.22… It took 87 tear gas bombs, unmeasurable amount of pepper spray, and numerous baton beating for the Government to finally face the political issue head on with a (fruitless) dialogue with the student leaders.  What’s next?

There was a 10th anniversary celebration event at my Alma Mater today.  I took a day off to enjoy a full day of seminars and sharing session at school.  It felt good to be sitting in lectures and learning from great minds from all over the world.  It’s been too long since I was a student, I seemed to have lost my passion and dreams after entering the working world…

Fellow students out there, I’m proud of you for standing up for the city, please don’t ever let the pragmatic world take away your passion and dreams!

Day 23

Weekly visit of the occupied area in Mong Kok after my painting class…

Day 22

It’s becoming addictive to visit the peaceful demonstration in Admiralty on Sunday nights…

Day 21

Wrote my first ever “open letter”…

Dear 佔中三子 and 學聨領袖,

While the dialogue with the Government has yet to take place, conflicts between protesters and police has once again become serious. It seems that the longer the peaceful demonstration drags on, the greater the risk of further jeopardizing the trust between protesters and police, and the lesser people would support the movement (esp. for those who are significantly affected by it on a daily basis).

Now that the Government has finally granted a dialogue with the protest leaders, may I humbly suggest a possible way to move forward that can allow protesters to continue the peaceful demonstration, while lessening the protesters-police conflicts and garnering people’s support.

From a shared article <

My humble suggestion: In midst of the upcoming dialogue with the Government, ask protesters to temporary cease blockage of roads that are significantly affecting people (不得已的違法方式) and continue the peaceful demonstration in Tamar Park and perhaps 公民廣場 (正常方式繼續抗爭).

Sincerely,

Just another one of 7 million people who is beginning to love HK.

Day 18

Felt the urge to visit the peaceful demonstration in search of hope after another dark day…

Day 16

Visited the Occupy Mong Kok (OMK) area after painting class…

Unlike the peaceful occupied area in Admiralty, the OMK community seemed more “vibrant” with wide ranging views and religion and constant clashes of opposing parties.

Day 15

A lot more camp tents were seen at the Occupy Admiralty tonight.  I took a stroll on the road to get a closer look and feel of the peaceful rally…

In contrary to what the Government portrayed as an uncontrolled crowd that’s ruining HK’s global image, what I witnessed was a peaceful and highly self-disciplined group of people who can set an excellent example to violent rioters worldwide.  Have you seen “rioters” anywhere in the world who would set up study area to do homework while protesting?

Day 13

The democracy-hungry people is back!!  Thanks to the Government for its delaying tactics and last-minute cancellation of the proposed meeting to talk the issue over.  The Government tried to use violence and negligence, but both seem to fuel the peaceful demonstrators’ courage and perseverance.  When will it learn to open up its closed gates and listen to the voice of its people?!

Day 11

Left work slightly early to visit the peaceful rally in Admiralty.  I was there also to hopefully observe and photograph the lunar eclipse for the first time, unfortunately it was a cloudy night and the moon was veiled most of the time.  The more I visit the Government Headquarter the more I seem to love its architecture and landscaping.

The peaceful rally seemed to have come to an embarrassing time.  The government and many well-respected people urged the students to leave the occupied area and rest, but how can you convince them to leave without any positive response from the Government, they suffered from pepper spray and tear gases and stayed out on the street for more than a week, all this for nothing?!

Continue to pray… pray that the students would have the courage and perseverance to pursue their ideals while the Government would learn to open up their closed gates and start listening to the voice of its people.
