Day 51

Weekly visit to the occupied area in Mong Kok after painting class… Strolled for a little bit more time than usual as the area may be cleared out before I can visit again next Monday.

Despite the unavoidable second-hand smoke and occasional swearing among people of different opinions, the atmosphere was mostly peaceful and vibrant.  I came across a portraiture master, it was a jaw-dropping awe-inspiring experience, I attentively watched and admired the talented artist before I left the area.

2014 GOOD City Index

Came across the news that HK was ranked 1st in this years GOOD City Index!!  According to the website: “… a city’s heartbeat is best measured in ‘possibility‘—the pervading sense that though a place may be far from perfect, its citizens are taking a bold stake in its future through a mixture of creativity, hustle, and civic engagement…”

The “possibility” was actually one of the reasons for me to move back to HK about 5 years ago, seems like I had made the right choice.

As the Umbrella Movement progresses, I seem to become more proud and more in love with HK.

Day 44

New season of painting classes started, and I resumed my weekly visit to the occupied area in Mong Kok…

Day 43

Still insisting on visiting the “Harcourt Village” weekly on Sunday nights.  Despite being already 43 days, I’m still finding new posters and other creative works every time I visit.

I admire the perseverance of the students in their protest for true democracy, but I hope that they do so more wisely.  The more the Movement is being dragged on, the more regular people’s living will be affected and become less tolerant and supportive of them.

Day 38

First time visiting the “Harcourt Village” before dark.

My sister and I took mom to visit “Harcourt Village” today, she was really excited and kept telling others she’s going “佔鐘”. She was fascinated by the many displays of creativity, enjoyed stepping on Mr. 689, and even took a photo with Xi Jinping!
