Running

Planned to do a 7k practice run this morning, but could only run 4k, felt defeated.  I think there were 2 possible reasons for the upset, one was that I got ambitious and used up a lot of the strength at the beginning of the run, and second was the scorching sun.

It was 30 degrees in mid-November!  The climate is seriously getting out-of-whack as many environmental scientists have been proclaiming for many years, and I see everywhere was just business-as-usual, when will we humans wake up and notice the environmental alarms?!  Sigh.

Monday Artist

IMG_2542Continuing my Monday Artist saga, I did some cartooning character design in the afternoon, then rapped up the day with the weekly watercolor and oil painting classes in the evening.  I still find watercolor very challenging.  Oil painting was comparatively easier to master, and I continued to sculpt possible my last oil painting.

Running

Covered 10.5k today, still slow and tired, but felt considerably better than last week’s run.

Running seems to bring out a little positive vibe in a world of terrorist attacks and melting icebergs… Stay strong everyone!

Running

Running seems to help lift up the spirit when you feel a little low.  Ran 7k with improved speed this morning.

Running

Debated whether to do my running practice this morning because it was raining very lightly.  Ended up doing a short run (~6k) on the wet running track.  I like running on Tuesday mornings, it seems to help start my work week on the right track.

Monday Artist

IMG_2527Left home in the morning to register for next term’s Monday watercolor classes.  While nearby, I took a stroll in Shatin city center, visited a furniture mall and MUJI, found some inspirations on products I can potentially design later.

Visited an Art exhibition in TST in the early afternoon.  The show was organised by a group of artists who find joy with they pen/brushes (筆上尋歡), it was the first organised showcase of their art.  There was a wide spectrum of media used (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen, pencil, photoshop,…).  Art looks noticeably different when you do it out of pleasure/joy rather than for commercial purpose.  Although the works were not as masterfully painted as the oil paintings I saw from another exhibition last week, the art here looked more joyful and attractive to me.  Maybe this is why I never stepped up to become a full-time artist, I just wanted to do art for pleasure sake.

Went back to the studio afterwards, tried to correct the watercolor painting I did last week, but failed.  Was rather late to my evening classes, watched the watercolor instructor demonstrate (always a pleasure) and continued working on possibly my last oil painting.

A stimulating and pleasurable Art Monday.

Running

Slow, exhausted, but nonetheless thankful that I kept my promise to run 10k today!

Note to self: don’t eat too full the night before.

Running

Did another running practice this morning.  The sun was shining and hot, I couldn’t run long, only managed to complete slightly more than 5k, speed slightly improved though.
