Wedding, 4th Wave, Persecution

Helped out at my good old family’s friend wedding on Thursday. It was a small cozy and yet extravagant wedding by the sea. Happy to be a witness of my friend’s memorable milestone while seeing his family and catching up with an old primary school classmate.

The 4th wave of the pandemic is hitting our city hard with daily new COVID-19 cases up to 3 digits on a few occasions in the past week or so. Experts have warned before that the virus will be more active and devastating in the winter, so I proactively met and caught up with many of my friends in Sept. and Oct. just before this 4th wave arrived. It would be better yet if the date with the girl-I-like didn’t result in a last minute rain check and that my UW classmates meetup didn’t get postponed. I guess that leaves something to look forward to after this 4th wave.

Our apathetic government officials didn’t seem to think their people are suffering enough by the ravaging 4th wave, they continue to persecute us with irrational pandemic measures while arresting and detaining people who have been fighting for democracy and freedom. Specifically, 3 young activists and 1 media tycoon have been detained while another ex-LegCo member is seeking asylum outside HK, all happened within one short week!

Oh Lord, can You see that Your people are suffering? Will You help us? ??

Website Refreshed

Haven’t posted any updates for a couple of weeks because I got stuck while refreshing this website. It’s been too long since I last did any web programming, so backing up, refreshing, debugging, and relaunching this personal blog took a lot longer than I planned.

With my little online space cleaned and renewed, I’ll likely be doing more babbling to myself here rather than FB. The giant online social media has gotten a bit too complicated and time-consuming for me to keep up over the years, and with the crazy 2020 near its end, now is probably a good time to rid of my FB addiction.

The Sunday service this morning marked the start of the Christian Advent calendar, reminding us of the coming and future re-coming of our Lord. It’s really a good reminder to myself to stay vigilant during these seemingly apocalyptic times, it’s probably not a good idea to be caught squandering my time on social media when that time suddenly arrives.

Hurdles

The past week was filled with ups and downs. Started the community marathon training on Tue, first taste of real exercise since my last run back in Jan/Feb, exhausted but felt good. (Up)

Met and caught up with a couple of friends on Mon and Thu separately. I’ve been proactively meeting up friends in the last few weeks, trying to catch up with my social deficit before going back into hiding when the pandemic numbers worsens again. (Up). Also tried to arrange a date with the girl-I-like today, but was cancelled last minute. (Down)

Had a spiritual downfall in the new place for the first time on Thu. (Down). Felt really bad afterwards (actually a good sign that the Holy Spirit is still working within me). Confessed my sin and praying not to fall back into the vicious cycle of sin-regret-confess and back to sin again. Really don’t wanna waste time on this again, life is too short.

Oh Lord, pls forgive me for letting You down again. Pls don’t give up on me and continue to mold me and use me for Your good works here on Earth for as long as You would graciously allow. ??
