Dinner with Old Friends

A couple of my primary school friends were in town visiting relatives, me and another old friend had dinner with them.  We had a wonderful time filled with happy conversations.

I’m thankful for having old friends who had our friendship established at a time that’s pure and uncorrupted by social statuses, money, and the many other factors that have no place in a good friendship.

<<3 Idiots>>

3 IdiotsWas out for lunch and suddenly remembered about the movie <<3 Idiots>> that was highly recommended by my sister and brother-in-law.  The 3-hour movie did not fall short of the expectation, it brought back some wonderful memories of the undergrad engineering days.  I was so idealistic and full of passion and hope back in those days.  That side of me seemed a bit distant to me now, what had happened over all these years?

Solitude

It was a rather long way home after soccer tonight.  Tired, but my mind was quite refreshed after the oxygenating exercise, uncountable thoughts crossed my mind.  I like this state of mind, especially on a late quiet and cool night…

Pondered a bit about life, lately I’ve been rather lukewarm on almost everything (career, relationships, sports, religion,…).  There’s a little urge inside of me telling me that I should rid of this distasteful life, and replace it with one of meaning and purpose.  May God be my constant guidance and strength…

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Heard the sad news of Steve Jobs’ death this morning.  Sad because we have lost a true visionary who had brought forth so many breakthrough technologies, touching and transforming the lives of so many people.  Sad also because he’s also one of the very few people I look up to.  In remembrance of SJ, I bought myself an iPod nano today with engraving “‘Love What You Do’ – S.J.”.

Had dim sum with my father and his friend today, he was telling his friend about how he wanted to write himself an autobiography.  He also mentioned about shopping for graveyards in the coming weeks.  It’s really sad to hear such things from your father even though he seems all well and healthy.

Please God, don’t let my father leave this world without first believing in you!

Aquarium

20111001-194817.jpgBought another batch of cherry shrimps today.  The last batch of babies lasted for about 2 weeks, hopefully this batch of adults would be hardier.  My ultimate goal is to sustain a healthy population of shrimps with minimal maintenance and energy input to the ecosystem…

Typhoon No.8

20110929-160026.jpgIf I remember correctly, this is the first time the typhoon no.8 signal was issued since I returned to HK 2 years ago.  Offices and schools were closed, but for people who works from home, today is just another regular work day.  I managed to get some work done in this crazy weather.

A Case of the Mondays

My legs are still sore from jogging 4k last night, still not quite sure if I can train up myself to complete a 10k run in about a month’s time…

I don’t know if it’s just my body calling quit, I couldn’t push myself to do any work today.  I don’t feel like dragging my tired legs outside of the house, so I ended up indulging myself with podcasts: CommandN, Diggnation, Tekzilla,… (I stopped subscribing to these tech-related podcasts 2 years ago when I moved back to HK).  Not a lot has changed since then, the hosts and the rundown were all too familar.  In fact, if it’s not for the ever-changing tech. content, I wouldn’t have noticed the 2 years passed since I last watched the shows!

A nostalgic Monday.

dEEsigners’ Headquarter

underConstruction7Took me about a week to design a 3D model of our new dEEsigners’ Headquarter.  Incorporated into it some of the environmental design strategies I’ve learnt through school, guess it wasn’t a complete waste of time and money to pursue my last M. Sc. degree…

Next step is to furnish our new office and arrange the floor plan… I’m actually more interested in this building design than the company’s website that will eventually come out of the project! =)

Aquarium

20110920-072705.jpgThe weather is considerably cooler today, I have been waiting for this sub-30 degrees weather to start my dwarf shrimp aquarium, a small (30x30x30cm) tank I had setup in my bedroom about 2 weeks ago.

Bought a batch of 20 cherry shrimps and acclimatized them before setting them free in the tank.  They seem to be doing pretty well so far…

Mid-Autumn 2011

20110912-111737.jpgThe weather was great tonight, no rain, and no clouds to block the brightly-lit and perfectly round moon.  Had dinner with my family at my brother’s place downstairs, I think it was the same last year, this is becoming another one of our family traditions!  Slightly differently this year is that my father invited his friend and daughter to join us because their family is back in Mainland China.  That’s what I call hospitality!  Feels a bit like the western Thanksgiving!

I’m also marking this day as an important date, I’ve made a promise to God, and if He’s willing, may I finally be able to keep my promise once and for all!
