Spring Rain

20120405-205127.jpgLife is pretty much back to normal after a few sick days.  Something in me seemed to have changed however, I was working unusually diligently and feeling good about it.  Maybe it’s true – “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”

The weather also seems to echo my inner renewal.  It has been raining since afternoon, suggesting the final arrival of spring and a rebirth of life.

Feeling (Much) Better

Fever had gone, but still don’t have much appetite for food.  Went out for a wonton noodle for lunch, but almost couldn’t finish the small meal.  Thought hard about what to have for dinner and I suddenly craved for Campbell soup, my convenient comfort food.

Just when I was about to leave home to shop and cook my very first meal in 2+ years, my mom called saying they’re on their way home.  She bought home 4 cans of Campbell soup and I picked 2 for her to cook.  I’m now full and feeling forever thankful!

I always believed that food doesn’t need to be expensive to taste good.  In fact, I abhor expensive/excessive/lavish meals when I know there are people in this world who can’t afford a basic meal.  The perfect meal for me is never really about the food itself, it’s more about the atmosphere, the people, and the wonderful conversations.

Feeling (Slightly) Better

Stomach felt less uneasy, head less dizzy, and slightly gaining appetite. I couldn’t stuff in any food other than congee, thankful that my mother made a big bowl of it before leaving for China for Ching Ming Festival.

Still having a light fever, hope I’ll get better and be strong enough to leave home and get myself some food tomorrow.

Sick

Stomach have been feeling bloated and queasy all day, thinking it may have to do with the ‘pineapple cake’ I had for breakfast. I was also feeling tired all day despite a decent sleep last night. And now I’m feeling dizzy and sometimes cold and sometimes hot. There’s also a light fever…

Hope I can sleep well tonight and wake up feeling better tomorrow.

Title: Nature in the City

Description:

Ever had the chance to see little plants bursting out of concrete cracks and wonder how they could have sustained their lives in such a harsh environment?   That’s nature – full of life and inspiration!  Nature is also full of surprises, can you spot that special four-leaf clover in the design?

Let us encourage nature to flourish in our concrete jungle by conserving energy and reducing our carbon footprints.  We urban dwellers can all use a little bit more inspiration and surprises from nature!

Voting for SIGG Bottle Design

Vote for me here if you like my SIGG Bottle design (voting ends on April 9th).

Earth Hour 2012

At my home studio with the lights turned off, figured this would be a good time to write up my journal using my tablet…

It’s the end of March, what have I done this month?  I’ve spent quite a bit of time re-designing this personal website while slightly cleaned up the dEEsigners’ website.  I’ve also spent a few days creating works for 2 design competitions.  There’s also the weekly badminton and soccer games.  But perhaps the happiest thing I’ve done this month is meeting up with friends visiting from Canada, US and Dubai.  Overall, March seems relaxing and enjoyable.

I have a hunch that April will be a turning point in my life, let’s see what will happen…

SIGG Bottle Design

Submitted my design for the SIGG bottle design competition just before the deadline.  This is probably the first time I enrolled in any kind of open competitions (well, 2nd as I also submitted work for a local competition earlier this month).  Not carrying too much hope to win, but I’m loving the experience.

Vote for me here if you like my design.  If I just so happens to win, I’ll give away the SIGG bottles to my friends and will also donate a portion of the winning prize to ICUN for conservation of threatened species.

Hawksbill Sea Turtle

Vectorized from a sketch done earlier, using it for a water bottle design competition.

Hawksbill Sea Turtle

An endangered species since 1996.  Did some research and sketched the magnificent creature, preparation for a graphics design competition.
