DeeSIGNERS’ (Re)launched!

Made some minor updates and finally (re)launched our DeeSIGNERS’ company website!  Although the update was miniscule, and the website itself is probably not all that important for the things we plan to do, the launch did feel like we’ve made a significant step forward however.

I’m ready to dedicate full-time and plunge into this venture.  I’m not 100% confident we’ll succeed, but if what we’re planning to do is good in God’s eyes, everything should just be fine.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’  declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”  (Jeremiah 29:11)

Running & Self-Confidence

Went running this evening before the forecasted rainy days hit the city tomorrow.  Was planning to run 10k, but was messaged by my friend about a badminton court being booked for tomorrow, so I just ran ~6k.  The truth is, I probably couldn’t finish 10k even if I tried, a bit out of shape and a bit lacking in determination (or maybe self-confidence?).  My unwritten goal about completing a half-marathon this year seems a little too ambitious at this point.

I’m not sure why the question about self-confidence came up while I was walking home after the run.  I never really thought of myself lacking self-confidence, but maybe I do a bit underestimate myself sometimes.  But lacking self-confidence or not may not be important when you have family and friends who value you higher than you value yourself.  Received an email from my friend this morning saying she’s still 100% support of our dEEsigners’ venture, that kind of made my day!

As much as I value my family and friends, I often tell myself and others not to worry too much about what others expect of him/her, the most important thing is what God expects of him/her.  I’m reminded of one of my favorite bible verse:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

Earth Day

IMG_0023Stumbled upon an interesting quote from an art event promotional pamphlet – “the earth without art is just ‘eh’!

It’s true, I can’t imagine living my life on earth without art!  I was motivated to spend a little time this afternoon to do a little art – sketched a little and did a little cartooning.

Ended my Creative Monday with oil painting class as usual.  I registered for another 12 classes of oil painting following this course because I couldn’t imagine my Mondays without it now.  I actually thought about registering for one more oil painting course to learn to paint scenic paintings, but I want to focus more on work for the coming months.

Will get back to work tomorrow!

Work Update

Still in the process of setting up the dEEsigners.com venture this week – did a little research on Business Registration, started modifying the company website design, and put in the finishing touch to our first external website design project.

Plans for next week include completing the Business Registration, completing the company website redesign and orchestrating a relaunch, and invoicing our client on the first completed project!

Creative Monday

IMG_0018Stumbled upon a wildlife artist’s book when I was browsing in a bookstore last time, decided to spend a little time this afternoon to look up the artist’s website.  Wow, breathtaking art!  The last time I was so awe-inspired by such wildlife paintings was visiting Robert Bateman‘s exhibition in Toronto!

I did a little painting myself during my oil painting class tonight, finished the second painting for the course.  It’s nothing compared to the great painters I admire, but I’m not going to give up, I’ll continue to practice weekly so as not to lose the painter’s touch, and if I’m fortunate enough to become a full-time painter one day (probably when I retired), I’ll scrutinize every inch of the artists’ masterpieces and learn to paint as well as them.

Running (Restarted)

It was more than 2 months ago since I last ran, had to rest 2 times before completing a 10k run this evening, really exhausted now.  I really wanted to give up when I was resting the first time, I thought about my sister-in-law’s father who suffered from an heart-attack during soccer game a few days ago and still in coma now.  I questioned about pushing myself.

It’s really not easy sometimes to decide whether to challenge yourself and push your limit or to give up and acknowledge your limit.  I remember this well-known prayer:

Oh Lord,

Please give me Serenity to accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can;

And Wisdom to know the difference.

Oh Lord, if you’re willing, please heal uncle and give him one more chance to believe in You before meeting You in heaven.

Work Update

I’ve told myself to get more serious about work for the next 4 months beginning April, and I’ve been true to myself starting this week by waking up before 8am from Monday to Friday.  Actually, it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be, I’m starting to really enjoy the early quiet devotion time with God before getting busy with my day.

So far this week, I’ve set up my computer and allocated the budget for upcoming work.  And I’ve also managed to finish up a long outstanding website project, it’s actually the first external project with our dEEsigners.com logo on it!

It was a pretty good and productive week for work, hope to keep the momentum going next week.

Introducing ADAM

photoAfter cleaning up EVE and preparing it for work yesterday, I decided to revive my first Mac (late 2009 MINI) today.  I appropriately renamed it ADAM.

ADAM will be very useful at times when I need to put EVE aside to rest in order to reclaim more desk space for creative works like cartooning.
