Creative Monday

Finally got my hands on the bible of cartooning – “The Complete Calvin & Hobbes”!  It took the public library 2 weeks to transport the book to the branch nearest me, I think there’s much room for improvement in our public services.

I indulged myself with the absolutely addictive book, and did a little cartooning myself before heading to my weekly painting class in the evening.

My First Hike Ever!

Started off at Wan Chai MTR station at 10am and didn’t return until 5pm, I was completely exhausted after completing my first hike ever!  I seemed to have surprised many fellowship b/s when I told them that it was my first time hiking, not sure why.  I like the beauty of the natural landscape, its flora and fauna, and the tranquility, but being raised in the city all my life, I get a little uncomfortable if I get away from it for too long.

Although tiring, it felt good to leave the hustle and bustle of the city briefly to breath in some fresh air from the countryside.  I was reminded of the Hawaiian trip about 2 years ago.  I now seem to understand why people likes traveling so much, the memories still seem so vivid after such a long time, I must have been bitten by the traveling bug after the Hawaiian vacation.  When will I get to travel again?

Creative Monday

IMG_1350Didn’t do any ink & wash this week, I’ve spent this Creative Monday printing and stamping my family tree instead, it’s creative nonetheless (I think)! =)

First Run

Did my first run this year, covered about 5 km in 40 minutes.  Broke some sweat in the sunny (but not too hot) afternoon, it’s my stupid attempt to respond to the Sunday sermon of being the salt and light of this world! =)

This is actually my first run since I recovered from the major illness in the beginning of the year, thankful that the knee joint problem I mentioned in my last post didn’t seem to be an issue during the run.

I was thinking during the run that I’ll likely be more vulnerable to different kind of sicknesses as I age, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ll be less healthy, it just means that I’ll need to work harder to stay healthy, right?  Ofcouse I’m not talking about age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease, those diseases seemed to me to be unavoidable and worrying about it would be of no help at all.

p.s. The earthquake in Nepal seemed devastating from the news videos and photos.  I pray that God would comfort those who have lost their loved ones and be merciful to those who are still struggling to be rescued.

Sickness

Mother got sick and couldn’t join my father for the planned short trip to Mainland this weekend.  She felt better after my dad took him to see the doctor on Thursday, but she told me she caught a flu/cold this morning when I was just about to leave home to work.  I was thinking about staying home but she insisted I shouldn’t worry.  I couldn’t help the constant worrying, especially when my dad wasn’t around.

Got home in the evening to pick up my racket for the weekly badminton session.  My mother seemed to be feeling better, so I was less worried while enjoying a healthy dose of exercise.

Recently, I’ve been feeling a little strange in my joints (hands and knees) even though I wasn’t exercising much, hope that it is not a side effect of my previous illness.

While I was waiting in line for the instructor during badminton tonight, I stared shortly at my racket and asked myself “how long until I have to give up on this sport that I’ve enjoyed for so many years?”

Creative Monday

IMG_1309The first thing I did when arriving at the studio was to clear out the drafting table and get ready to indulge myself with art.  Spent the day practicing ink & wash, completed a couple of animal portraits, hardly spoke a word to my colleagues.

Joined my weekly oil painting class in the evening.  It had been more than 2 weeks since our last class, felt good to be back to my weekly painting corner. =)
