“Hey Wilson, you see the boundless horizon? It’s so vast that it seems to curve and surround me, I’m the king of the world!! ?”
First Cruise Trip
Joined my parents and their friends on a 9-day cruise vacation, my first ever cruise trip. Boarded the Voyager of the Seas in HK on the 8th, headed for Japan’s Hiroshima, Beppu, and Miyazaki for 3 respective daytime land excursions, and returned home in HK early morning today.
The joy of exploring the huge ship didn’t last longer than a day or two. My excitement died off quickly after realising on the first night that my dream of revisiting the breathtaking starry night sky vanished because the ship’s roof deck was polluting the sky with artificial light throughout the night. It also didn’t help when your roommate is annoying, loud, and snoring throughout the night – a true test of patience and self-control that I think I passed.
The experience wasn’t all bad, I was able to revisit the boundless sea/sky horizon from the ship, so boundless that it seemed to curve around me! I also made my first ever attempt to get up early to catch the sunrise, the panoramic view was not bad despite the clouds and wind. I also managed to do a few cartoons which really did brighten up the less than exciting days on board. And the best part of the trip was definitely seeing my parents and their friends enjoying their 9-day vacation and looking forward to the next one.
Sickness
Woke up with a high fever of 104 degrees early Friday morning. I whatsapped my family group and my brother downstairs was the first to pick up and soon drove me to the hospital. There was a stream of panicky messages among my siblings in the group all the while my parents were still sleeping.
Waited for more than half an hour and it took less than 10min for the doctor to diagnose that I got a common cold. I was signed a 2-day sick leave note (which wasn’t of much relevance for a self-employed), took a shot, and paid and picked up a full bag of medicine before heading home.
My mom exploded after waking up and knowing what happened. I was scolded for not taking off-the-shelf medicine the night before as she recommended and not waking them up in the morning. It’s bad enough to be sick, it’s worse when you’re constantly being blamed and annoyed while being sick and needed peace and quiet.
After 2 days of staying home, and despite not fully recovered, I decided to come back to my studio on a Sunday for some desperately needed peace and quiet away from my mother! I can’t be more grateful for being entrusted with this creative space!
Website Revamp
Finally took the time to revamp this dusty old website. The previous version had quite a few glitches that I’ve grown to ignore and find my ways around, I’ve managed to kill some of the bugs in this update.
Over the past couple of years, I seemed to have grown more “social” and relied on FB to update my status and share with friends rather than writing up a journal entry on my thoughts and ideas. I’m actually not a very social person in nature, my family and close friends can probably attest to that. It seems to be rather time consuming and energy exhaustive to live against my nature.
This website update will hopefully lure me back to my roots and help me focus my limited time and energy on what’s important in life.
