One of our highschool friends came back from US for a little vacation, I couldn’t join them for a baby visit in the afternoon, but was able to join them for a hotpot dinner. Haven’t seen some of them for like a year, it’s good to do a little catch up and have a little laughter.
10K Run
Allocated time this afternoon to work on a new feature for a custom CRM system, but about 10 minutes into work, I got stuck and couldn’t proceed without further information from client.
Took it easy and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon instead. Went running, still out of shape, had to complete the 10k in 3 separate runs. Seemed to be lacking the will to run these days, I kept on asking why I’m running at all? Couldn’t really answer, but I still have the faint hope that I can train myself to finish a full marathon in my lifetime.

Work
Hasn’t been doing too much work this week, but happy that I managed to send off 2 small website projects for testing. Was thinking about finishing another adhoc support request before taking a break from work, but got stuck and couldn’t do much before hearing back from the client.
With the 2 website projects pretty much completed, I’m now left with only a few less urgent projects on my hands. I’ll probably take it easy and slowly migrate into the holiday season when I’ll spend more time with family, to think and plan, and to indulge in some spontaneous creative projects…
Creative Mondays
Bought myself a new “toy” this afternoon, I’m hoping that it will rekindle my joy to sketch. Haven’t tried it yet though as my afternoon was spent helping to babysit my 2 nieces from Toronto.
Had my weekly painting class at night and finished the second painting, still found time lacking and had to rush through it, not as satisfied with this piece as I hoped. Hope for a satisfying painting always seems to lie on the next piece.
10K Run
The sun was shining again today after nearly a whole week of gloomy weather. Went out for a run, the last time I ran was more than 2 weeks ago!
I was rather out of shape, had to stop after running 5k. Was thinking about calling it quit and head home, but I was quite determined to finish 10k. Pushed myself to run another 5k, stressed my left knee and now limping a little, but somehow I thought it was worth it.

Friday Night
It’s another Friday night without fellowship. Fellowship schedule seemed to be a bit sporadic lately, probably because of the many church events happening in December – likely the busiest month in church.
I didn’t join my family for dinner tonight because I wanted to dedicate more time to clear up my projects. Ended up I just couldn’t drag myself to work on a Friday night, I shouldn’t even have wasted the effort to attempt such an impossible task! Let’s just see if I can sleep early tonight and dedicate the whole day to work tomorrow instead.
Creative Mondays
Still enjoying my Creative Mondays. Besides my weekly painting class, I’ve spent a little time this afternoon making a candle decoration from materials found mostly in the studio.
Temperature will be staying at around 15 degrees throughout this week, winter is definitely just around the corner. It is forecast that we’ll have a very cold winter this year, looks like I’ll be burning a lot of candles in coming months.
Surrendering
Had lots of plan in my head before the start of this weekend – watch movie, work, clean home, meet up with friends, running,… And I knew it’s impossible to do them all. It turned out my friend had an emergency and the gathering was cancelled, and I couldn’t run because it was raining and cold. I was able to focus and do the other things – watch movie, work, and clean home. Problem solved!
Life is like that sometimes, you spend so much time and effort to come up with the perfect plan, but there’s so much uncertainty that the best plan may simply just be surrendering and embracing the uncontrollable!
Surrendering was one of the main spiritual lesson for my last week’s devotions, I was reminded of this again when watching The Life of PI, a rather philosophical and thought-stimulating movie.
