Cartooning

It was probably back in 2005 when one of my friend and colleague tagged me along to enroll in an evening cartooning course. My friend eventually dropped out after taking 2 or 3 courses, and I ended up taking 10 or more courses. It was the main instructor’s fault for getting me hooked on cartoons!

Years passed since graduating from Cartooning in 2007, I now still find myself frequently resorting to doing cartoons whenever I want to express my thoughts and ideas.

Beverley Encountering Her Foe

I first created the character Beverley, a curious and cosplay loving 5-year-old, in April 2014. During the Umbrella Movement, I found an urge to express my discontent, so I instinctively used the cartooning medium and invited Beverley to speak up…

Looking back now, this 5-year-old seems to be destined to meet her foe, Mr. 689.

But the truth is that I’m still a little reluctant to employ a 5-year-old to be the main character of political cartoons.

Mighty Pen

After the tragic event at Charlie Hadbo, I realized that it actually takes courage to do satire cartoons.  Never really thought cartooning would hold such great power and influence.

I salute all the brave cartoonists out there!
