Sports

Played soccer yesterday and then badminton tonight, had dinner with the 2 separate groups of friends after the games on both nights.  After a few weeks of missing out the games, I now realize how much I missed these social times.

Without the games, I was able to arrange longer periods of uninterrupted time to work in the last couple of weeks, seemingly slightly more productive.  I guess that’s the only downside of getting my regular weekly exercise back – less time to work.  When did I ever become such a workaholic?!

Goodbye Summer

The evening temperature is notably much cooler these days, I was able to sleep without A/C for a few nights already.

With summer slowly fading away, life seems to be getting back to normal again.  My regular weekly exercises (badminton, soccer, etc.) is starting again this week after the many weeks of dormant lifestyle.  Work also seems to becoming more regular and busy as I have 3 or 4 projects (paid and pro-bono) lined up for the next few months already.

With the change in weather, I’m starting to cough a little and my nose is also getting a little stuffy, but I don’t think I’ll be missing the hot and humid summer here in HK!

Work Update

Spent a week or so on a website revamp project that’s due by the end of the year.  I think I’ve got about 60% of the work done, though not progressing as quickly as I hoped, I can probably still go ahead and slowly shift myself to working full-time on the dEEsigners venture next week.

DIY

20120910-232943.jpgCan’t think of what to get for my friend’s birthday, decided to do a little DIY this afternoon, hopefully she’ll like the little gift I made.

I kind of like giving living plants as gifts because they don’t deteriorate over time, and they don’t become outdated like electronic gifts.  In contrast, if plants are well cared for, they actually become more beautiful over time.

Voted!

Voted for the first time in HK today, it felt curiously good.

I really don’t consider myself as much of a political person, but this weekend has been nothing but that. First came Friday when I finally decided to read up on the recent protest on National Education, didn’t like it one bit and made an effort to show my support by wearing black. Then Sat. came, after finishing off a little work at night, I made an effort to search and watch the debates of the election candidates. I didn’t sleep until around 3am when I was done reading through the voting package. I was trying to prepare myself to put in a more educated vote today. After confirming my votes with my political teacher (i.e. my sister as she had been infusing me with knowledge about the government structure and policies in HK every Sunday morning before church), I placed my most educated and rational vote this afternoon!

Even though there are much to disgust, I think I’m starting to care and love more about this city where I was born.

Soccer

Was dragging my feet walking home after soccer tonight.  Realized I haven’t done any exercise for a few weeks already, was out of breath, out of shape, very exhausted tonight.

It’s starting to feel slightly cooler at night now, it’s about time for me to pick up jogging again, but need to buy myself a pair of new running shoes first.

Time(less) Retreat Poster

Retreat poster design for my old fellowship in Toronto.  It was a fun opportunity to serve God.

Lunch with Friend

20120904-203455.jpgWent out to have lunch with a good old friend and his wife.  I’ve known this friend since primary school, he’s probably one of the “oldest” friends I still keep in touch with.  We used to meet up at least once a month, but had been a bit busy (both for him and I) in the last few months to have a meal together.  It’s good that we were finally able to do some catching up this afternoon.

We had lunch very close to the new Government Headquarters and my friend suggested to take a walk there after lunch.  It’s my first time visiting the new landmark in HK, love the openness of the building and the landscaping.  Also paid a brief visit to the current protest on National Ed., I do support them spiritually, but similar to all the previous protests, nothing seemed to provoke me enough to get involved.  I’m still very much a bystander when it comes to politics.

Oil Painting

20120903-231458.jpgCompleted the second painting of my oil painting class tonight, it’s my first animal portrait done in oil! There’s considerable improvement in terms of color when compared to the first painting, but there are many areas that I wished there were more time for me to improve it. Oh well, there’s always hope that the next painting would be the better one.

Tonight’s the halfway mark of my painting class, registration for the next season of classes will be on next Monday. Debating if I should register for another 3 months of painting classes. I know I’ll miss my Monday nights if I don’t register, but then I’ll have to miss so many more soccer games if I do register… hmm…
